African Union (AU)
Note: This is an intermediate committee and is available to delegates from all years. This committee is classified as a Specialised Committee.
Agenda
Assessing the issue of outward migration from African Union states.
Mailaau Mumthaz Hussain
Co-Chair
Mailaau is a first-year psychology student at the University of Bath. Hailing from Maldives, the land of sunny sunny skies and sandy beaches, she hopes to bring over the sunshine vibes to LSEMUN HS 2024 for a fun-filled, productive and memorable conference. When she's not adding to her growing collection of delegate placards at every MUN conference in sight, or devoting every second towards researching for aforementioned conferences, Mailaau can be found exploring the nearest arts and crafts store, indulging in Subway, or having a delightful lakeside picnic with the resident ducks. She can't wait to meet all the delegates and hopes everyone has a fantastic experience filled with exciting debates and memories to last a lifetime.
Diana Son
Co-Chair
Diana is a second year Law and Politics student at SOAS, University of London. Brought up between Uzbekistan and South Korea, she found her passion for MUN in high school. Since receiving the “Best Delegate” award at her first conference, she has accumulated experience in nearly 20 conferences, as a delegate, chairperson, and secretariat member. When not writing study guides, Diana can be found on the football field, going on a run, or looking for travel destinations to keep her sane. Along with the rest of the AU chairing team, Diana looks forward to welcoming the delegates to the committee and the memories that will be made in the process!
Alexandre Michael Duponcheele
Co-Chair
Alex is a 3rd year undergraduate Medicine student at Queen Mary University of London. He is a Londoner with Franco-Greek heritage, and joined MUN in high school. Ever since then he has focused on spreading MUN to STEM students for them to grow their personal skills on top of their expertise. He helped organise QMUN 2024 as USG Finance, attended four conferences and won awards at two. Having been a teaching assistant volunteer for Saturday School, he is looking forward to helping to fire start bright young minds at LSE YouthMUN 2024.
Sofia Goldstein
Assistant Chair
Sofia is a Year 13 student at BHASVIC, studying History, Politics and English Language and Literature. Sofia’s interest in MUN began at the beginning of her time in college, and she aims to begin an International Relations degree in September. When not catching up on sleep, Sofia enjoys baking and obliterating every muscle in her body at the gym. Honourable mentions to her severe iced matcha addiction - particularly from Joe & the Juice. She is very excited for this year’s MUN conference and cannot wait to meet all delegates and chairs!
